Day break

by Ben Brizell

The day’s heavy
but
the sun’s heavier.
Is the greatness of days
seen only in the future?
Or am I stuck in the past,
drowning?
and in love with love
and all it brings.
The days of August came to
a slow end,
the brusque days of new
fall atop each other
in a cold, red carpeted room.
